Tata Motors Electrifies the Entry-Level Segment with 2026 Punch EV Facelift and Disruptive BaaS Pricing
Tata Motors launches the 2026 Punch EV facelift featuring a refined design, premium features like ventilated seats, and enhanced range. With the innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) pricing starting at just Rs 6.49 lakh, the new Punch EV makes electric SUV ownership more affordable than ever. Explore the new variants, updated styling, and advanced tech in this comprehensive update
The 2026 refresh brings a sophisticated maturity to the Punch EV’s design language. The front fascia has been streamlined with a tweaked bumper and a larger air dam, complemented by a textured finish on the faux silver skid plate that adds a rugged yet modern appeal. While the signature split-headlight setup remains, the central LED strip previously connecting the DRLs has been removed to create a cleaner aesthetic. The side profile retains its muscular stance with 16-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels, thick body cladding, and C-pillar-mounted door handles, while the rear now features the connected LED taillight units recently debuted on the internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the Punch
Inside the cabin, the facelifted Punch EV prioritizes high-tech convenience and premium comfort. The dashboard is headlined by a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system running Tata’s latest UI, paired with a 10-inch fully digital driver’s display that provides crisp, real-time telemetry. To tackle varying climates, the vehicle comes equipped with ventilated front seats and automatic climate control. Additional premium touches include a wireless phone charger, a single-pane sunroof, and a 360-degree camera system designed to navigate congested urban environments. Safety remains a cornerstone of the package, featuring a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and the vehicle's inherent high-ground clearance of 195 mm, which, alongside a 450 mm water-wading depth, ensures versatility across diverse terrains
By offering five distinct variants—Smart, Smart Plus, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered Plus S—and two battery pack options, Tata Motors is catering to a wide spectrum of urban and semi-urban commuters. The introduction of BaaS pricing is particularly significant, as it decouples the battery cost from the initial purchase price, potentially mirroring the success seen in other global markets and making electric mobility accessible to a much larger demographic. As bookings open nationwide and deliveries prepare to commence, the 2026 Punch EV stands as a pivotal product in Tata’s mission to transition the Indian automotive landscape toward a sustainable, electric future
